Not with just any perfume. A Dior Sauvage travel spray is built to be refilled with Dior Sauvage, and only Dior Sauvage. You can top it up in seconds from a Sauvage Eau de Parfum bottle, and the full-size Sauvage bottles can be refilled too, but only if they are marked "RECHARGEABLE." What you cannot do is load a different fragrance into it. If your goal is to carry whatever scent you own, you need a universal refillable atomiser instead. Here is exactly how the Dior system works, and where it stops.

Is the Dior Sauvage travel spray refillable?
Yes. Dior designed the Sauvage travel spray to be refilled, and it is genuinely quick. The travel spray tops up directly from a Sauvage Eau de Parfum bottle in a few seconds, with no funnel and no mess. Dior also sells refills for the full-size Eau de Toilette bottles, so the whole Sauvage range is built around reuse rather than replacement.
The catch is in one word. Every one of these refills is Dior Sauvage. The travel spray fills from a Sauvage bottle, the full-size refill contains Sauvage, and there is no route that lets you put something else in.
Which Dior Sauvage bottles can be refilled?
For the full-size Eau de Toilette, the Dior refill is only compatible with the 1 oz and 3.4 oz bottles that carry the word "RECHARGEABLE." It is printed on the back of the 1 oz bottle and on the bottom of the 3.4 oz. If your bottle does not say it, the refill will not work with it. The refill itself is made from recycled aluminium and uses an auto-stop system that halts filling when the bottle is full.
So before you buy a refill, check the bottle. An older or non-rechargeable Sauvage bottle is a dead end for the official system.
Can you put a non-Dior perfume in it?
No. This is the question most people are really asking, and the answer is the same as it is for every designer refill system. The Dior travel spray is engineered to pair with Dior's own bottles and refills. There is no practical way to load a fragrance from another house into it. If you own more than one scent, or fragrances from more than one brand, the Dior system keeps you inside Dior. It is worth knowing this is true across the board: we broke down the whole market in which designer travel sprays are refillable.
How to refill a Dior Sauvage travel spray
Topping the travel spray from a Sauvage Eau de Parfum bottle takes seconds:
- Remove the travel spray's cap and pull the atomiser unit out of its case.
- Sit the base of the atomiser over the nozzle of your Sauvage Eau de Parfum bottle.
- Pump it down and up a few times. Each pump draws fragrance up into the spray.
- Stop before it is completely full, then slot it back into the case.
It is a clean, well-made system. It just only works with Sauvage.
What if you want to carry a different fragrance?
Then you want a universal atomiser rather than a brand-locked spray. A universal atomiser uses the same simple pump action, but it fills from almost any perfume bottle you already own, Dior or otherwise. No approved-bottle list, no single-brand lock-in, and you can swap scents whenever you like. Johnny Depp made Sauvage a household name, and we wrote about that in what cologne does Johnny Depp wear, but a universal atomiser lets you carry Sauvage today and something completely different next week.
Fills from the bottles you already own, Sauvage included. Leak-proof click closure, premium leather finish.
Dior refill vs a universal atomiser
| Dior Sauvage system | Universal atomiser | |
|---|---|---|
| Fragrances | Dior Sauvage only | Any perfume you own |
| Bottle needed | Must say RECHARGEABLE, or an EDP bottle | Any standard bottle |
| Swap scents | No | Yes, anytime |
If Sauvage is your one and only, the Dior system is convenient and nicely made. If you own more than one fragrance, a universal atomiser removes the restriction. Here is how to fill one without making a mess.
Frequently asked questions
Can you refill a Dior Sauvage travel spray with any perfume?
No. It is designed to refill only from Dior Sauvage, either a Sauvage Eau de Parfum bottle or a Dior refill. To carry a different fragrance you need a universal atomiser.
How do I know if my Dior Sauvage bottle is refillable?
Look for the word "RECHARGEABLE" on the bottle, printed on the back of the 1 oz and the bottom of the 3.4 oz. Only those bottles accept the Dior Eau de Toilette refill.
Is the Dior refill cheaper than buying a new bottle?
The refill is designed to be more economical and lower waste than a fresh bottle, using recycled aluminium and an auto-stop fill. It still ties you to buying Dior Sauvage, though.
What is the most flexible way to carry Sauvage while travelling?
Fill a universal atomiser from your Sauvage bottle. It is TSA-friendly at 5ml or 10ml, and the same atomiser can carry any other fragrance you own on the next trip.
