This is the number one cause. Liquid expands with heat and pressure, so a completely full atomiser has nowhere for that expansion to go and it forces fragrance out past the seal. The seal or closure is not seated

Dust, dried fragrance, or a slightly misaligned top will break the seal. You stored it lying flat
